Dr. Samuels understands the complexities of a woman’s vagina. Factors such as aging, pregnancy, pain and stress can cause physical changes that can make sex difficult for women. More commonly, women experiences loss of sensation during sex and a feeling of looseness.
She specializes in various treatments that can help you feel pleasure during sex again. She understands that most women either don’t seek help or are discouraged if they experience these kinds of issues. However, the environment at the Urogynius Center is comforting and understanding.
Vaginal Rejuvenation procedures have both aesthetic and functional purposes for patients. Dr. Samuels believes in doing a full in-depth repair. She expertly incorporates muscle repair and removal of excess tissue for a better cosmetic and functional result.
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a vaginal rejuvenation surgery that reduces the size of the labia minora (inner lips) and/or labia majora (outerlips). This is the most typical reduction surgery. However, the reduction of the clitoral hood can also be done during the same procedure if needed.
In terms of appearance, some patients may need to increase the volume in the outer lips or decrease the “looseness”
Labiaplasty Consultation
During your consultation with Dr. Samuels, you should be prepared to discuss your expectations. It’s essential to provide all of your medical information, including your medical history and current medications. You will also need to discuss any prior surgeries you have had.
Dr. Samuels will provide you with her recommendations based on your expectations. A health evaluation is necessary to ensure you can undergo anesthesia. This consultation is critical as it determines the course your surgeon will take for surgery.
Why A Labiaplasty?
The procedure is becoming much more common for both functional and aesthetic reasons. The effect of the process is restored and increased confidence especially in terms of aesthetics. Also, issues with the labia minora can be functional as well. Functional bothers may include irritation during daily activities, urinating in different directions, difficulty with sex, and the inability to wear certain clothes. According to the ASPS, labiaplasty procedures increased by 39% in 2016.
Vaginoplasty
Vaginoplasty essentially involves the tightening of the vaginal canal. Tightening is helpful if the vagina has become loose from things like childbirth or natural aging. This can improve one’s sex life and pleasure during sex. The tightening procedure can be done on its own, or it can be combined with labiaplasty. The additional procedure is done to reduce the size of your labia minora or labia majora. You can discuss this during your consultation with Dr. Samuels.
Clitoral Hood Reduction
The clitoral hood is the woman’s equivalent of the man’s foreskin. Enlarged it can inhibit orgasm but it does serve the very important role of coving our precious clitoris. It may be reduced (not removed!) to improve orgasm or for aesthetic reasons. In some cases of labiaplasty it may need to be reduced to actually improve the look of the labiaplasty depending on the patient’s unique anatomy.
Hymenoplasty
For many reasons, women have expressed the importance to them, of maintaining the integrity of their hymen. This is a relatively simple procedure to do just that. We have excellent results with a short recovery.
